One dog at a time

Calm, patient and personlised grooming in a home-from home environment.

Starting grooming early helps your puppy learn that being brushed, handled, bathed and dried can be a calm and positive experience.

Rather than expecting your puppy to manage a full groom straight away, my Progressive Puppy Grooming Programme introduces each part of the grooming process gradually, building their confidence at their own pace.

🐶  Progressive Puppy Grooming

🐾  Groom 1 — Introduction & Table Handling

Your puppy's first visit is all about getting comfortable. We'll gently introduce them to the grooming table, brushing, combing and handling of their paws, ears and face, as well as the sights and sounds of the salon.

The focus is on creating a positive first experience, rather than achieving a fully styled groom.

🐾  Groom 3 — Introducing the Full Groom

🐾  Groom 2 — Introducing the Blaster

Once your puppy is comfortable with the basics, I'll gradually introduce the high-velocity dryer (blaster) on a low setting.

I'll continue with gentle brushing and handling while helping your puppy become familiar with the sound and sensation of being dried.

By the third visit, your puppy will have had the opportunity to become familiar with the main elements of grooming. I'll then introduce their first full puppy tidy-up.

At this stage, the groom will include:

✂️  Face trimming
🐾  Paw & bum trimming
🐕  Tail trimming
💅  Nail clipping

At this stage, your puppy's coat is still developing, so I won't clip the body coat short.

Instead, I will keep things gentle and age-appropriate, focusing on tidying the face, paws, tail and bottom areas, while allowing your puppy's body coat to develop naturally.

As they mature, I'll be able to advise you when they're ready for their appropriate adult grooming style.

A young coat provides natural protection and insulation for your puppy and clipping too early can sometimes affect how the coat grows back — particularly in breeds with double coats or fur, where regrowth can become uneven or patchy.
